Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: March 12, 2026
The SpeakEasy Collective (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, SPKeasy (the “App”).
1. Nature of the Service (Sub-Clinical Support)
The SpeakEasy Collective provides a platform for non-clinical, empathetic peer support. We are not a healthcare provider, and our Listeners do not provide medical advice, mental health diagnosis, or treatment.
NOT A CRISIS LINE: If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a life-threatening crisis, please contact emergency services (911) or a crisis hotline (988) immediately.
2. Information We Collect
To provide our service, we collect limited categories of information:
Account Data: First and last names, work email address (used for eligibility, 2-FA, and password resets).
Payment Information (PCI): For self-paying users, we use secure third-party processors. We store only the last 4 digits and card brand; full financial data is held by our secure payment provider (e.g., Stripe).
Usage Metadata: Call duration and frequency, used to manage monthly subscription caps and employer billing.
Communication Data: Transcripts of voice conversations (see Section 4).
3. The "Employer Wall" (Anonymity)
Privacy is our foundation. We guarantee the following:
No PII Sharing: We never share your name, email, or individual usage details with your employer.
Anonymized Reporting: Your employer receives only aggregate, high-level data (e.g., "Total sessions used by the organization this month") to verify the benefit's value.
Number Masking: We use proxy technology to connect calls. Your personal phone number is never visible to the Listener/Conversationalist.
4. Transcription and Data Handling
To ensure quality and safety, all voice calls are transcribed in real-time.
Real-Time Processing: Transcription is performed by secure automated systems.
Storage and Encryption: Transcripts are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.
Retention Policy: Transcripts are for quality audits and safety verification. After a year, they are permanently deleted unless flagged under our "Duty to Act" protocol.
5. Safety Exceptions (Duty to Act)
Confidentiality is our rule, but safety is our priority. We reserve the right to disclose limited personal information to emergency responders or local authorities only if:
A user expresses a clear, specific, and imminent intent to harm themselves or others.
We are legally required to do so by a valid subpoena or court order.
6. Data Security and 2-FA
We take data integrity seriously.
2-FA: We utilize Two-Factor Authentication via your work email to prevent unauthorized account access.
No Recording: While we transcribe for safety, we do not store raw audio recordings of your conversations.
7. Your Rights and Deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated PII at any time by contacting info@speakeasycollective.org.
Automatic Deletion: Upon account deletion, all identifiable transcripts and payment tokens are purged from our active systems within 30 days.
